Hoewel Apple haar webpagina’s nog niet overal even consequent heeft aangepast, kan iTunes 4.9 worden gedownload via Software Update en via Apple.com. Zoals verwacht en eerder aangekondigd door Apple, ondersteunt iTunes nu ook podcasts: > “With iTunes 4.9, you can now browse and subscribe to podcasts from within the iTunes Music Store. Podcasts are frequently updated radio-style shows downloadable over the Internet. You can also transfer podcasts to iPod, for listening on the go.” [/textquote] De iTunes Music Store schijnt overigens nog niet helemaal correct met de nieuwe functionaliteit om te gaan.
