De gelukkigen onder ons die een dual 2.5 Ghz G5 hebben besteld kregen de afgelopen 24 uur waarschijnlijk een mailtje in deze zin van de Apple Store:

To Our Valued Apple Customer:

Thank you for ordering the new Dual 2.5GHz Power Mac G5!

The demand for this item has been incredible. We are shipping them as quickly as possible, but cannot meet the ship date we previously estimated for you. We now expect to ship your Power Mac on or before August 20th.

Please rest assured that we fulfill all orders in the order they are received. If we do not hear from you prior to shipment, we will assume the revised date is acceptable, and will ship your order. We will notify you if there are any changes to the revised ship date.[/textquote] Apple meent dus de populariteit van de G5’s te onderschat hebben (waar hebben we dat toch eerder gehoord…)

Maar in een email naar Power Mac G5 aankopers deze morgen heeft Apple het volgende verteld:

”Recently, we notified you of a delay with your order. We are very pleased to report that we have revised the shipping estimate for your order. We now anticipate shipping your G5 by Monday, August 2. This shipping estimate is based on our very latest information and supersedes all previous communications regarding the status of your order.”[/textquote] Enkele uren later begon Apple de Dual 2.5’s dan toch te leveren. Het is nog steeds onduidelijk waarom Apple met dit ‘valse alarm’ kwam, maar verschillende kopers werd duidelijk gemaakt dat de Apple Store per ongeluk ‘vertragingsberichten’ had verstuurd. Nu maar hopen dat ze dan toch eindelijk komen…
