Diverse sites melden dat Microsoft Virtual PC 7 heeft uitgesteld tot oktober 2004. De reden die MS geeft voor de vertraging is dat ze willen wachten op Windows XP Service Pack 2 om die meteen mee te leveren met Virtual PC. Service Pack 2 voor XP is erg belangrijk voor Microsoft omdat daarin veel aandacht is besteed aan het verbeteren van de veiligheid van Windows.

Virtual PC 7 staat hoog op het verlanglijstje van veel PowerMac G5 bezitters, omdat dit de eerste versie zal zijn die de G5 processor ondersteunt. Opvallend genoeg betekent dit dus dat deze Mac-gebruikers met smart zullen gaan wachten op de volgende update van Windows… Iets wat we nog niet vaak hebben meegemaakt.

As you may know, Virtual PC 7 ships with Windows XP both in a box by itself as well as in the Office 2004 for Mac Professional Edition. Windows XP SP2 release has moved to August, which has impacted our schedule.
